Item Details
An elegant and well-proportioned French jardinière table, finely constructed in richly figured walnut and retaining its original fitted zinc liner. The shaped rectangular top is centred with a decorative burr walnut panel, framed by satinwood crossbanding, and enclosed by a pierced gilded brass gallery, giving the piece both refinement and visual interest.
The lift-off top reveals the original removable zinc liner, traditionally intended for plants or floral displays, though equally suitable for use as an occasional or centre table. The serpentine frieze is inlaid with satinwood lines and flows gracefully into slender cabriole legs.
Each leg is finished with finely cast gilded brass mounts and foliate sabots, adding a restrained decorative flourish while maintaining an elegant overall profile. The table displays excellent colour and patination throughout and remains structurally sound.
A charming and versatile decorative piece, well suited to both period and contemporary interiors.
Condition Report:
In very good antique condition throughout. The walnut veneers retain excellent colour and patination, with only light surface wear consistent with age. The burr walnut top and satinwood crossbanding are intact, and the lift-off lid sits correctly. The original zinc liner is present, showing expected age-related wear and oxidation. The gilded brass gallery and mounts are complete and secure. Structurally sound and presenting very well overall.
