Item Details
A very elegant pair of antique English mahogany dining side chairs dating from the Regency period, early 19th century. The chairs are designed in the desirable Klismos form, with beautifully curved sabre legs and a shaped back rail decorated with fine ebony line inlay and distinctive Greek key corner detail.
The gently curved back supports and shaped rear legs create the graceful classical profile associated with Regency furniture inspired by ancient Greek design. The front legs also sweep elegantly, giving the chairs refined proportions.
The seats are upholstered in a neutral striped fabric. One seat is slightly lighter in colour than the other. Most buyers purchasing a pair of chairs prefer to reupholster them to suit their own interior and we would be happy to reupholster the seats for the cost of the fabric only, or alternatively we can supply fabric from our own stock free of charge.
A particularly stylish and decorative pair of Regency mahogany chairs displaying elegant classical lines and attractive inlaid detail.
