A fine pair of large antique Edwardian white marble fireplaces, dating to circa 1901, each beautifully carved and of impressive architectural proportions. Each fireplace has an inverted breakfront top with a double moulded edge, supported by substantial carved marble scroll brackets. The frieze is centred by a finely carved decorative panel with bows and fruit, giving the fireplaces a refined classical appearance typical of the Edwardian period. The upright supports are richly detailed with carved ornament, including fluted scroll elements and floral decoration, while the inner opening is framed by a carved repeating moulding. The scale and quality of the carving make these particularly striking examples, and the fact that they survive as a pair makes them especially desirable. These would be ideal for a large period property, country house, townhouse or interior design project where a matched pair of statement fireplaces is required. Date: Circa 1901 Origin: England Available for UK and international shipping.
