Item Details
A rare and characterful oak gateleg dining table of early English origin retaining a beautifully mellowed surface and superb colour developed over centuries of use. The oval top is formed from solid oak boards and fitted with two hinged leaves, allowing the table to be used in a compact closed form or fully opened for dining.
The base is particularly attractive, standing on boldly bobbin turned legs united by sturdy stretchers, giving excellent strength and rhythm to the design. A single drawer to the frieze provides a practical and charming feature, reinforcing the table’s authenticity and everyday usability.
When fully extended, the table will comfortably seat six people, making it both a historically important and genuinely usable piece of early furniture.
