Antique Victorian Walnut Set of 6 Carved Balloon Back Dining Chairs

A fine quality set of six antique Victorian walnut dining chairs dating to circa 1850, with beautifully carved and pierced balloon backs displaying elegant scroll and foliate detail. Each chair has a shaped walnut frame with delicately carved decoration to the crest and lower back rail, together with serpentine shaped seats that have been newly reupholstered in a smart geometric fabric. The chairs stand on graceful cabriole front legs with swept back legs, giving them a light and elegant profile. The walnut has a lovely warm colour and the carving is particularly crisp throughout. These are very attractive examples of mid-19th century Victorian dining chairs and would sit equally well around a traditional dining table or within a more contemporary interior.
