Item Details
A charming antique Victorian Staffordshire pottery equestrian figure depicting Joan of Arc riding on horseback whilst holding a tricolour flag. The figure is decorated in traditional hand painted enamels and stands upon a naturalistic base.
Equestrian figures such as this were popular decorative ornaments produced by the Staffordshire potteries during the Victorian period, often representing historical and heroic figures. The modelling of the horse and rider together with the hand painted decoration and hollow construction are typical of Staffordshire pottery of the 19th century.
A decorative and collectable example of Victorian Staffordshire pottery.
