Item Details
A superb quality Victorian rosewood centre table of elegant octagonal form, standing on four beautifully turned and spiral twist supports united by shaped stretchers and a finely inlaid undertier. The top is particularly attractive, displaying a rich rosewood grain framed by satinwood banding and multiple boxwood and ebony string inlays.
To the centre is an exquisite inlaid octagonal panel featuring scrolling foliate marquetry, providing a striking focal point. The quality of the timber throughout is exceptional with wonderful colour, contrast and figuring. The table is finished on all sides making it ideal as a centre table, occasional table or lamp table.
Victorian centre tables such as this were designed to occupy a prominent position within the drawing room where they would display lamps, flowers, books and decorative objects whilst also serving as an important statement piece within the home.
A highly decorative and practical table with excellent proportions and outstanding craftsmanship.
