Antique Victorian quality brass skimmer having a shaped handle attached to a round brass skinner with spider web decoration.
A lovely decorative piece. Antique brass skimmers were primarily used for skimming the surface of liquids, especially in cooking and food preparation. They were designed to remove impurities, foam, or excess fat from broths, soups, and other cooking liquids, and were also used to retrieve items like meat or herbs from stews. Additionally, they were employed in dairies to skim cream from milk.
