A fine quality Victorian Canterbury music cabinet wonderfully constructed from burr walnut with elegant turned supports and original castors. The cabinet features an upper tier with decorative fretwork gallery above a lower shelf both exhibiting rich burr walnut figuring and fine inlaid detail.
Below, a glazed cupboard door opens to reveal three fitted divisions traditionally used for storing sheet music, marked “Dance,” “Songs,” and “Instrumental Music.” The sides are paneled and the piece stands on turned legs united by a shaped plinth all raised on porcelain and brass castors.
