Item Details
A very elegant and original set of four antique Regency mahogany dining chairs dating from the early 19th century. These chairs display classic Regency design with refined proportions and excellent quality craftsmanship.
Each chair features a beautifully shaped curved top rail with finely moulded detail and a figured mahogany panel beneath. The backs incorporate a distinctive horizontal splat with a central roundel flanked by two open circular motifs, a decorative feature frequently seen in Regency furniture and influenced by classical design.
The well-shaped uprights sweep gracefully down to the seat rails, giving the chairs a light and elegant appearance. The seats are generously sized and have been upholstered in an attractive patterned fabric which complements the rich colour and grain of the mahogany frames.
They stand on elegant turned tapering front legs with splayed rear legs, all typical of the Regency period. The quality of the timber and the crispness of the mouldings further support their early 19th century origin.
A handsome and practical set of chairs that would work beautifully around a dining table or as occasional seating.
