Item Details
A charming antique George III carved mahogany folding corner table dating to around 1800, displaying excellent craftsmanship and beautifully detailed carving throughout.
The triangular top is richly carved with an impressive central quatrefoil motif surrounded by scrolling foliate decoration and a deeply carved border. The quality and depth of the carving is particularly striking and gives the table wonderful character and presence.
Designed to sit neatly into the corner of a room, the table features a clever folding action whereby the hinged top opens out to form a square occasional table when required, making it both decorative and highly practical.
The carved frieze is decorated with floral and foliate detail and stands on elegant cabriole legs with carved leaf decoration terminating in pad feet. The legs and apron are finely carved and reflect the craftsmanship associated with the late Georgian period.
A highly decorative and versatile piece which works beautifully as a corner table, lamp table or occasional table.
