A fine quality pair of antique Regency rosewood side chairs having beautiful rosewood top rails with elegant sweeping backs. The chairs retain their original Regency form with decorative carved centre splats featuring scrolling foliate detail and finely moulded rails. Raised on attractive turned and reeded front legs with sabre rear legs these chairs display all the elegant proportions associated with the Regency period. The rich rosewood timber has developed a lovely warm colour and patina over the years. The seats are generously proportioned and upholstered in a quality neutral fabric making them practical for everyday use whilst complementing both traditional and contemporary interiors. Originally designed for use around the dining table in Regency homes, side chairs of this type were intended to provide comfort whilst maintaining the refined elegance fashionable during the early nineteenth century.
