Item Details
A fine antique Georgian mahogany tilt top tripod table of elegant proportions, raised on a turned central column with three shaped cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.
The rectangular top with rounded corners tilts to a vertical position, a practical feature designed in the period to allow the table to be easily stored against a wall when not in use. The top displays a lovely figured mahogany grain with a rich warm colour.
The base is well turned with classic Georgian detailing, giving the piece a refined and balanced appearance. Tables of this type were originally used as occasional or supper tables, easily moved around the room for dining, tea or candlelight.
Today they are most commonly used as lamp tables or side tables, making them highly versatile in both traditional and modern interiors.
A timeless and practical piece with excellent colour and form.
