Antique Georgian Mahogany Cellarette Wine Cooler Side Table

A superb quality antique George III mahogany cellarette wine cooler dating to circa 1800, made from beautifully figured mahogany with a rich warm colour and elegant Georgian proportions. The rectangular lift-up top has a moulded edge and opens to reveal the original fitted interior with individual bottle divisions. The gently tapering body is fitted with impressive original brass lion mask ring handles to the sides and stands on four finely turned tapering mahogany legs. Although originally made as a wine cellarette, its proportions make it wonderfully versatile for modern interiors. It works beautifully as a side table, lamp table, occasional table or drinks table, while retaining its original purpose as a wine cooler and storage piece. A particularly handsome and useful example of late Georgian cabinetmaking, combining fine timber, strong proportions and highly decorative original brass fittings.
