Antique George III quality oak longcase clock by Jacob Lovelace, Exeter having a removable hood with a shaped cornice pierced carved frieze glazed door flanked by two turned columns, long shaped door with unusual pierced carved centre flanked by 1/2 rounded columns on a crossbanded base and raised on bun feet. The movement boasts a splendid square brass dial with black Roman numerals, original hands, eight day movement striking on the hour and half hour on a bell, original pendulum and weights
A superior example by Jacob Lovelace (1687-1755) Exeter's most celebrated clockmaker and, in particular, was the maker of the famous Exeter Clock, the remains of which are in Exeter Museum having been bombed during the Liverpool blitz of the Second World War.
