Item Details
A magnificent 19th-century French ebonised and brass-inlaid Boulle display cabinet of exceptional quality and presence. The serpentine-fronted cabinet features intricate boulle and brass marquetry in the Louis XIV style with gilt-bronze mounts and classical ormolu embellishments throughout.
The central glazed door opens to reveal two lined interior shelves flanked by curved glass sides allowing for elegant display from multiple angles. The cabinet is richly detailed with acanthus mounts, classical masks, and pierced ormolu friezes, all retaining a fine aged patina.
The piece stands on a shaped plinth base and is topped with a beautifully moulded black ebonised surface. This superb example of Napoleon III craftsmanship is both a striking decorative statement and a fine collector’s piece.
