Item Details
A finely made Edwardian mahogany wall hanging corner display cabinet of elegant proportions and refined decorative detail. The shaped and moulded cornice is surmounted by an openwork scroll pediment centred by roundel medallions with delicate marquetry inlay. The astragal glazed door retains its original glass and opens to shelved interior display space, ideal for the presentation of porcelain or small objets de vertu.
The cabinet is constructed in well-figured mahogany with boxwood line inlay throughout offering both subtle contrast and a pleasing sense of lightness to the form. The shaped apron and chamfered sides add to its refined silhouette, while the overall patina demonstrates a gentle and well-preserved history of careful use.
A particularly graceful and well-balanced Edwardian corner display cabinet, suitable for wall mounting in a drawing room, dining room, study or entrance hall, and an excellent example of the restrained yet decorative cabinetmaking taste of the late 19th to early 20th century.
