Item Details
A refined and beautifully proportioned Edwardian mahogany mantel clock of elegant Gothic-arched form decorated with delicate satinwood inlay depicting bows, floral garlands and classical scrollwork. The rich mahogany case rests on small gilt brass feet giving the piece a subtle lift and refined presence.
The silvered dial, with Roman numerals and blued steel hands shows a gentle, attractive patina typical of an Edwardian timepiece. Fitted with its correct winding key the 8 day movement functions well and strikes on the hour and on the half-hour producing a clear and pleasant chime. The rear brass sound plate is finely pierced, adding further decorative detail.
A charming and very typical Edwardian example, displaying excellent craftsmanship and a warm, timeless appeal.
