Item Details
A superb quality antique Edwardian mahogany serving table of elegant proportions, dating to circa 1900.
This beautifully crafted table features a richly figured mahogany top with a graceful serpentine shaped front and finely moulded edges. The wonderful grain of the mahogany gives the piece a particularly attractive appearance, complemented by its warm colour and lovely patina.
The shaped frieze incorporates two generously proportioned drawers, each retaining attractive decorative brass handles. Between the drawers is a beautifully carved central panel featuring a floral patera surrounded by delicate trailing garlands, adding a refined neoclassical influence to the design.
Further carved floral paterae embellish the corners, whilst the elegant square tapering legs feature delicate carved decoration and terminate in distinctive spade feet.
The combination of beautifully figured mahogany, fine carving and graceful serpentine shaping makes this a particularly handsome and decorative example of Edwardian craftsmanship.
An exceptionally versatile piece that would make a wonderful serving table in a dining room, an elegant console table in a hallway or a sophisticated addition to a drawing room.
