Item Details
A very unusual and elegant set of four antique Edwardian mahogany corner chairs, beautifully designed to sit neatly into corners while still offering comfortable occasional seating. Pieces like this were originally made for drawing rooms and reception spaces, allowing extra seating without interrupting the flow of the room.
Each chair features a shaped and moulded top rail with delicate satinwood style inlaid detailing including a central classical urn motif and fine floral panels. The pierced splat backs are refined and well balanced giving the chairs a light decorative feel. The serpentine seats have been newly upholstered in a neutral patterned fabric finished with close studded braid.
They stand on elegant cabriole legs with further line inlay to the seat rails showing a good level of craftsmanship throughout. The overall design is both practical and decorative making them ideal for corners, bay windows, hallways or as accent chairs in a bedroom or sitting room.
