Item Details
A magnificent antique Black Forest carved walnut cuckoo clock dating from around 1900, beautifully hand carved in the traditional hunting lodge style. Rich in detail and craftsmanship, this impressive clock is decorated with a dramatic stag's head surmounted above crossed sporting rifles, surrounded by deeply carved oak leaves, game birds, hunting horn, game bag and woodland foliage. A true statement piece, it perfectly captures the character and artistry of the celebrated Black Forest workshops.
The circular dial is fitted with contrasting white Roman numerals against a black chapter ring, retaining its original carved hands and framed by finely carved hunting trophies. Above the dial sits the cuckoo door, discreetly concealed within the carved chalet, allowing the bird to emerge on the hour.
The exceptional quality of the carving is evident throughout, with beautifully modelled oak leaves, highly detailed game birds and crisply executed hunting accessories. Every element has been carved from solid walnut, producing wonderful depth and texture that has mellowed beautifully with age.
The clock retains its traditional pine cone weights and pendulum and is powered by a weight-driven mechanical movement. Whether displayed in a country house, hunting lodge, library or mountain retreat, this outstanding Black Forest cuckoo clock is both a functional timepiece and an impressive work of decorative art.

Condition / Servicing Note:
Please note that antique clocks are complex and sensitive mechanical objects. While some clocks may be running at the time of listing we cannot guarantee ongoing performance without a full inspection and testing period by our specialist horologist. Where inspection, testing, or servicing is required this process can take between 2–12 weeks depending on the clock, the work needed, and current workload. This careful approach helps ensure the clock is properly assessed rather than rushed.
Clock Warranty
All clocks purchased from London City Antiques are supplied with a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
This warranty covers mechanical faults and failures arising from normal use. It does not extend to damage resulting from improper handling, unauthorised tampering, accidental or physical damage, environmental factors (including humidity, temperature fluctuations, or exposure to direct sunlight), or misuse.
Should a clock develop a genuine fault within the warranty period that meets the above conditions, we will, at our discretion and at no cost to you, arrange for the repair or replacement of any defective parts. All remedial work will be carried out by a fully qualified and experienced horologist.
In the unlikely event that a fault cannot be satisfactorily resolved, a full refund will be offered.
