18th century quality antique oak brass face longcase clock by Benjamin Reeves, Lamberhurst having a quality square brass dial with original hands, 30 hour bird cage movement striking on the hour and half hour, original weight and pendulum. The case is crafted from oak with turned columns to the hood, long door to the centre of the case standing on a shaped plinth base. A handsome example in lovely condition for its age boasting a nice age related patina and in good working order Benjamin Reeves is a recorded clockmaker working in Lamberhurst, Kent, circa 1740 until his death in 1790. He is also known to have worked on a church clock in Battle in 1774.
