An outstanding French eight day brass gilt metal striking mantel clock by the premier makers of Paris, Henry Marc and Japy Freres. The pink porcelain dial is an exquisite example depicting a beautiful wreath of pretty flowers to the centre handpainted in pink, gold, blue, white and green. The brass case is unusual with ornate pierced brass and shaped finials with a crown to the top and four ornate brass birds. The eight day french movement striking on a bell every hour and half hour is by Japy Freres the gold medal winner of the 1855 Paris exposition. The movement is of his usual high quality, his gold medal stamp along with that of Henry Marc,clockmaker and retailer are evident and clearly marked on the back plate. This is an exceptionally desirable example in beautiful original condition and in perfect working order. H 34cm W 20cm D 16cm
