Fine quality Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase having an out swept reeded cornice above a brass inlaid frieze, a pair of quality mahogany panelled doors with reeded columns , original pierced brass escutcheons opening to reveal three adjustable shelves with reeded edges. The base having a secretaire top drawer opening to reveal a fully fitted interior of six drawers, eight pigeon holes and a door to the centre all boasting wonderful satinwood stringing inlay, original baize writing surface, three graduated cock-beaded drawers with stringing inlay, original brass escutcheons and outstanding Regency brass lions head handles, flanked by reeded columns and standing on splay feet with a shaped apron. A handsome example of the period, even though not marked it was most certainly designed and crafted by a leading cabinet maker of this period.
